Mandela Day reminds us that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference. This year, we marked the occasion by preparing and delivering 850 winter warmer boxes to vulnerable community members in Eendekuil and Clanwilliam, bringing a little comfort during the colder months.

While CarmiƩn Tea continues to support many initiatives in Citrusdal throughout the year, particularly through its long-standing partnership with Mouton Foundation, Mandela Day presented an opportunity to extend that support to neighbouring communities.

Packed with Care

In the days leading up to Mandela Day, our team on the farm came together to pack each winter warmer box by hand. Every box included two boxes of CarmiĆ©n tea, some fruit and herbal infusion envelopes, a Mantelli’s rusk and cookie and fresh naartjies, kindly sponsored by Mouton Citrus and Bergendal. Each box was packed with care, creating a thoughtful winter treat.

Reaching the Communities

In Eendekuil, 277 boxes were handed over to well-known and trusted members of the community. Working closely with local families, they understand where support is needed most and ensured the boxes reached vulnerable households.

We also partnered with the social workers at BADISA Clanwilliam, delivering a further 573 boxes to support vulnerable individuals and families in the surrounding community. By working with a trusted local organisation, we could be confident that the boxes reached the people who needed them most.

A Warm Welcome

One of the highlights of the initiative was seeing the response from the communities. The boxes were warmly received, with many people commenting on what a thoughtful treat they were.

The positive response from the communities was incredibly rewarding for everyone involved.

Giving Back, Together

Mandela Day reminds us that everyone has the opportunity to make a difference. For us, it was also a chance to work alongside local organisations and community leaders who know their communities best, ensuring support reached the people who needed it most.

By working together, we were able to share 850 winter warmer boxes, bringing a little extra warmth to our neighbouring communities.
